ABOUT
Established in 2007 by the Faculty of Law of the University of Geneva and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, the Geneva Academy has acquired a global reputation for excellent teaching and research, and it attracts students of high quality to its master’s and training programmes. Our graduates are employed around the world, promoting and protecting international humanitarian law (IHL) and human rights (HR) in governments, NGOs, international organizations and academic institutions. The Geneva Academy thus contributes to the dissemination of legal knowledge in these crucial sectors.
AREAS OF INTEREST
Scholarships are awarded for LLM in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights (LLM) and Master of Advanced Studies in Transitional Justice, Human Rights and the Rule of Law (M TJ).
BENEFITS
University offers partial and full scholarships for both programs. Partial scholarships cover tuition fees. Full scholarships cover tuition fees and living expenses in Geneva for 10 months.
ELIGIBILITY
LLM Program: The LLM is open to candidates who have a full degree in law; a demonstrable interest in IHL and HR (i.e. internships, summer school, conferences attended, etc.); a good background in public international law and a sound command of English. A passive knowledge of French is an asset. MTJ Program: University is looking for students who possess a law degree or an equivalent degree relevant to transitional justice (such as international relations, political science, sociology, anthropology or history); have a demonstrable interest in legal issues related to transitional justice and are proficient in English. Practical experience and a command of French are an asset.
English Language Requirements: Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.
