Study Abroad For Free (Stanford Knight Hennessy Scholarship) All You Need To Know + How to Ace It

With talks of a recession looming, the question "Is there a way to study abroad for free?" is evergreen. Tuition fees for international students are usually double or triple the cost for domestic students so figuring out which countries give full scholarships to international students is a good place to start in your study abroad prep process.

I work with students one on one to prepare them to apply for fully funded scholarships so if you want to work with me, click on this link, fill in the information and I will get back to you.

In this post, I will answer the common questions; "which country gives full scholarships to international students" and "How can I study abroad for free?"

The USA gives fully funded scholarships to international students and you can study abroad for free in the USA. The UK also does through its Rhodes scholarship, Canada through its Vanier Graduate scholarship, and for Postdoc students, the USA also offers its Havard Scholars Program)

What's the opportunity?

Well, let me tell you about a fully funded scholarship to Stanford University called the Knight Hennessy Scholars Program. A couple of things to remember;

  • Knight-Hennessy Scholars receive up to three years of funding to pursue graduate studies at Stanford University in the United States.

  • Scholars get an opportunity to do JD, MA, MBA, MD, MFA, MS, DMA, and Ph.D. programs, as well as joint- and dual degrees.

  • Scholars learn through workshops, lectures, projects, and experiences that strengthen transformational leadership capabilities.

  • Scholars address important challenges and opportunities facing the world, such as climate change, healthcare, government and policy, and education.

Ooookay but how can I ace it and achieve my dreams of studying in the USA for free?

You have to pay attention to two main things; Your CV and the Essays.

YOUR CV

Your CV is an important document that you will submit when applying for this scholarship and it is important that your CV can help you stand out from the crowd. To impress the scholarship selection panel, a few things should be on your CV;

  1. High Grades: This is a fully funded scholarship that is very competitive, so the selection panel is looking for the best of the best. A 4.0 GPA is not an exaggeration. You need it. If you can't get it, have at least a first-class honors degree.

  2. Academic Publication: Do you want a highlight in your CV that will get the scholarship selection panel thinking how much of a loss it will be to not grant you the scholarship? Get an academic publication.

  3. High Profile universities: A debate can be had about why and how relevant this should be but unfortunately, it is. High-profile university names attract high-profile university names. Remember this scholarship is to STANFORD which is pretty high profile on its own. So prior degrees from high-profile universities will help you stand out from the crowd.

  4. Buzz Name Professional Experience: Remember you are applying for a scholarship to STANFORD. in CALIFORNIA. the birthplace of SILICON VALLEY and disruptive technologies. They are biased toward those who have worked in any corporations that were birthed there. So, as an international student hoping to get this scholarship, do not shy away from internships or workshops or full-time jobs/part-time jobs in your local branches of these companies. They'll help you in the long run. And if you can't get any opportunities at a Silicon Valley-birthed company, have some relevant professional experiences in your field of study.

  5. Skills: Those relevant to your study field will go a long way to help you stand out from the crowd. Use Learning platforms like LinkedIn Learning, Coursera, and Udemy to get the certifications you need.
